here are some postcards I made recently, along with some cards I've made/sent.

creative endeavors: valentine's edition!

this first set I made for a valentine swap and I kept them simple due to time constraints. having said that, I think they're pretty fun. I took some pictures of a lace skirt I have and then put the text on top, played with the envelopes, etc. it was a good time.








this second set I kind of doodled with paint on some note cards, then free handed the kraft paper overlay, scanned it, printed it on card stock and doodled on top of that, then added little hearts. they actually turned out better than I expected. I like valentine's a lot.

spring break tuesdays.

this semester due to a wacky schedule and six hour design class, I have tuesdays off! it's been amazing to have a whole day during the week do homework, sleep in, take adventures and all that good stuff, so they have been fondly named "spring break tuesdays," because when spring break ended it felt like it got to keep going in a way every tuesday. fantastic, and I thought it would be fun to share some pictures of what we've gotten to do during this time.

the first recognized spring break tuesday was the 22nd of march and I blogged about it here. it was such an amazing day that I decided to continue the adventuring.

then on april 5th I grabbed my holga and brother and went to old overland park to shoot the roll. the weather was amazing and and we topped the afternoon off with some delicious carrot cake at a fun little coffee shop nearby. here are some snaps from my digital:




for this one I slowed down the shutter speed and then zoomed while the shutter was open. pretty neat effect.


the 12th I kicked back and made another letter collection. it had been far too long. I love making experimental cards. =)




the 19th was incredibly delightful. we stopped in for a bite (or two or three) at Andre's. does it get better? I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. (and really we ate more than desserts haha)





this last tuesday I spent the day in pjs writing, and writing, and writing away. crazy papers. no pictures there. =)

letter project.

here are some of the letters I've sent lately. I almost like putting these together to send as much as I like actually recieving mail. =)

for this first one I used one of my favorite pictures from my visit to the greenhouse. it was just such a neat little spot.


and for this second one I went through some fun magazines and cut out strips that looked interesting. then I just arranged them together on the front. I really like the different slices together.



sometimes I just feel more ambitious than other times. =)

things that made my valentine's day and creative endeavors

I believe that valentine's day really is one of the greatest holidays, simply because, it gives me an excuse to make cheesy cards, eat way too much chocolate cake, and participate in awesome traditions such as the annual v-day watching of "Hot Rod."
this year we decided to take the hot rod thing a little further and make hot rod valentines, and more importantly hot rod mustaches.

creative endeavors.

first off I have some letters that I made inspired by this post and I think they look pretty fun. you just take pages out of pretty catalogues and write your letters on them. such a good idea.




I got to use my awesome plaid packing tape which was very exciting.


then this is my latest project. I got the idea from here and I'm so excited! you just finish the sentence "today was all about. . ." I think I could maybe keep this up. maybe someday I'll be creative enough to think of these things. wouldn't that be amazing? =)



year in review: october

Letter Project 9.29.10

this is an idea that actually worked out really well (I think). I took strips of magazines and paired them together in sets of similar colours, then I put strips of masking tape over that and wrote quotes on the tape. I may just end up selling some like these. we'll see. I had so much fun tearing through all my magazines and catalogues. =) seriously though, stuff like this is sorta therapeutic after a lot of studying and homework.

on another note. . . totally psyched for community/30 rock tonight! gotta love fall tv.
