things that made my day: downtown edition.

last tuesday while my sister was back for spring break, we decided to revisit some of our spring break traditions from past years in the form of a downtown day. we don't get down there as much as we'd like, but we make it happen when we can.

first up was d'Bronx. we ate delicious pizza bigger than our heads.


then we left our mark. hot rod style.


next we visited prospero's and scored some fantastic old books and played on the awesome sliding ladders.


then we just walked that street, visiting the shops and checking out the graffiti and flags.


one of these shops had a real life rowdy. he was too legit to quit.


then we headed up to the memorial arch. not only is the arch itself fantastic, but there is a great view of the kc skyline from there.



after that we went down to the heart of the city and walked around.


saw the fantastic library. (brilliant design)


saw sprawling grocery stores.


and got some fantastic bubble tea.


it was a stellar day to say the least. I'm a huge fan of kc.

things that made my day.

1 february. snow day! massive amounts of snow. reading Israeli mysteries and drinking thick hot chocolate.


2 february. a vintage booklet on how to tie scarves. equally informative and amusing.


the beginning of new art classes.


3 february. getting extra credit for taking pictures of the massive amounts of snow.


5 february. visiting a greenhouse. I love this place so much.


11 february. matching red-toed socks.


14-15 february. hot rod themed valentines day.

things that made my valentine's day and creative endeavors

I believe that valentine's day really is one of the greatest holidays, simply because, it gives me an excuse to make cheesy cards, eat way too much chocolate cake, and participate in awesome traditions such as the annual v-day watching of "Hot Rod."
this year we decided to take the hot rod thing a little further and make hot rod valentines, and more importantly hot rod mustaches.
