let me just start this by saying SWEET FREEDOM! I enjoyed this semester, but I am so glad to have some time away.




these are some of the paintings I finished the semester with.





and here are the last few things I worked on in printmaking. the earth may look familiar because it's a reprint of an image from earlier in the semester. I reworked it a bit and I like it better now.
more importantly though, is my final print of the semester. I had a lot of fun with this one. I mean how can you go wrong with the moon, the best color of blue AND a silver star chart? it just makes me excited to get back to printing in january.

creative endeavors.

my first go at photolitho. I'm lovin it. on a related note, I switched my BFA emphasis from painting to printmaking. in other words, I left the painters to join the mystical order of printmakers. I am pretty crazy excited.

just a little peek at some of the things I've been working on. this semester I seem to be exploring a lot of space and geography imagery.

snowdays.

I'm a huge fan of snow that keeps me away from class and work. it's beautiful and amazing. I got to do a lot of sleeping and painting and eating warm food. and really who doesn't want to just sleep, paint, and eat? (and probably watch a lot of tv. that also happened)

I finished this project on tuesday and it's definitely my favorite so far. I feel like I find a new movement to identify with every semester. this time I'm an abstract expressionist. it's decided. I just knew this was coming.

this is the latest project I did for painting, and it's a superflat self-portrait.
I definitely had a love-hate relationship with it. I enjoyed it quite a bit for a while. then it became pretty tedious and time-consuming, but I still can say I liked the project. even if none of the work I do right now seems to turn out quite like I'd expected, I could say the unpredictable nature is part of the fun, and maybe I'll just leave it at that haha.

I loved it at this stage and kinda want to revisit this idea at some other time just incorporating elements like this.

creative endeavors plus some.

I'm currently waiting for paint to dry. rather than watching it, because I feel like it's been established that's a bit boring, I'm finally posting again! people are gonna get excited. I just know it.

a couple things that have been a little awesome lately:

we went to the plaza art fair a couple weekends ago and that made for some awesome people watching, as usual.

there was some pretty interesting art too.

I played art teacher to some 5-7 year olds for four weeks, along with another awesome lady. it ended last monday and here are some adorable thank you notes I got from the deal.


these are some postcards I've sent lately. I'm trying to get more colorful with them, and I just love my paint markers.


and here we have some projects I've been working on for painting. unfortunately I have basically none of my work from this class or ceramics with me, so I can't really share any of the final products. BUT these are some sneak peaks, and I'll share more when I can. I have not forgotten. =)

lately.

I went to the Haskell art market on sunday. it was awesome and colorful and interesting, and I got some pretty great cards with this tribal graffiti wolf thing going on, but more importantly I learned two things.

1) my favorite way to eat things is with my bare hands, barbarian style.

2) don't wear something bright colored and distinctive if you don't want people to notice that you've circled the tents three times now.


also, the whole time I was painting today I had this stuck in my head. (I don't know if it helped or hurt my sanity)

sophomore year art - spring

here is the second half of the work I produced this year.
I created a slide show near the end of my advanced digital photography class so I'm including that here, and then I've put the few photos from the class that I took after I put that together in a new slide show with my 3D design work.

I just had the urge to title this "she's so crafty." maybe from now on I'll be calling these posts that name. consider yourself warned.
anyways, here are some little projects I've put together recently.

I got some awesome paint markers not too long ago and I've been having a great time with them. I used them to make this kind of doodle painting.

then I made this little bookmark with gouache. it had been forever since I'd used it, and I don't think I had done any projects outside of class with the paint so this was fun.




lastly is this mixed media piece I made for mother's day. it was a hot mess for a while and had to come together in a rather short amount of time, but I really like how it turned out.

as crazy as it sounds, I think I'm finally bonding with my classes this semester. it's gotten to the point where I actually have enjoyed a project or two. what in the world haha.
anyways here is one of the last design projects I did. we had to take a section of our reference picture and mix pigments to match the colors in it, and then we had to take a section and create four different color harmonies.





then here are the last two drawing projects I finished. the first one with the masks may be one of my favorite works of the whole semester. it's just so bright and fun.
